Burt Myers scored his second straight SMART Modified Tour victory of the season on Saturday at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina.
With the win, the Walnut Cove, North Carolina racer becomes the first repeat winner of the season in the series in the first six events.
Myers took the lead from Joey Coulter on lap 17 and led the rest of the way for his 10th series victory.
Myers was challenged late in the race by Tim Brown.
“We didn’t have enough stagger after changing the right rear tire on that pitstop. I knew it was going to be tough and Tim (Brown) was giving me all I could handle,” Myers said. “I was trying to keep it on the bottom in one and two so he couldn’t get under me. That’s where we struggled tonight.”
Brown finished in second, with Ronnie Williams in third, Coulter in fourth, and Brian Loftin in fifth.
Former NASCAR Cup Series champion Bobby Labonte followed in sixth, with Carson Loftin, Bobby Measmer, Jr., Jimmy Wallace, and Tom Buzze rounding out the top 10.
