Marty Ward Takes Southeast Super Truck Win At Anderson

Veteran racer Marty Ward took home top honors on Saturday night by scoring the victory in the season opener for the Southeast Super Truck Series at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, South Carolina.

The series had been trying to the 2023 season started for a few weeks, only to be foiled time and again by wet weather. On Saturday night, Mother Nature finally relented, and the season opener as run in full at the 3/8-mile paved oval.

Ward, who hails from Marietta, South Carolina, started from the pole, and went on to hold off T.J. Williams for the win. Chris Chastain followed in third, with Jesse Smith in fourth, and Bennie Davis in fifth.

Allen Huffman, Ed Surrett, Josh Goble, Cameron Williams, and Greg Bohanon, Jr. rounded out the top 10.

In other action, T.J. Lollis took the victory in the Southeast Limited Late Model feature. Chase Pollard crossed the line in second, with Garrett Lowe in third, Lance Gatlin in fourth, and Logan Drumheller in fifth.

Steve Howard took the win in the Carolina Vintage Racers feature, with Jesse Martin second, Duffie Dams third, Joe Payne fourth, and Doug Howell fifth.

Mitchell Thompson was the winner in the Legends feature, with Wesley Thompson in second, Zack Alexander in third, Drew Brown in fourth, and Damon Burdette in fifth.

Emma McJunkin was first under the checkered flag to win the Pure Stock feature. Austin Harvey finished in second, followed by Pressley Cannon in third, Bailey Catoe in fourth, and Danny Gilbert in fifth.
