Drew Collins led wire-to-wire to score the Limited Late Model victory at Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway on Saturday night.
The Auburn, Georgia speedster started the night by setting fast time in qualifying with a lap at 16.686 seconds around the 3/8-mile clay raceway.
Collins backed that up by jumping out to the early lead in the 20-lap feature. Meanwhile, Bubba Russell suffered problems early on, sidelining him for the night.
On the restart, Collins again powered to the point, and went on to record the win.
Danny Sanders followed in second, with Charlie Walker in third, Ronnie Hedden in fourth, and Lance Chitwood in fifth.
In other action, Chris Woods jumped out to the early lead of the 602 Late Model feature, and stayed at the front of the field the rest of the way to record his first Lavonia victory of the season. Nathan Bray came home in second, with Chase Watkins in third, Hoyt Partain in fourth, and Dylan Beaver in fifth.
With $1,000 on the line, the Modified Street feature figured to be a barn burner. Pole sitter Jennifer Everett took the early lead, while the pack battled behind her, bringing out a series of cautions. The race came down to a two-lap dash, with Everett holding the point over Drew Griffith with the white flag in the air. Everett’s car slid high in turn three, opening the door for Griffith to challenge. Griffith edged out Everett at the line by less than half a car length for the win. Michael Segars, Royce Bray, and Roger Beaver rounded out the top 5.
Grayson Wells scored his first career Lavonia Open Wheel Modified feature after taking an early lead. Ethan Sellers came away with a second place result.
Michael Segars moved to the front of the Stock 8 feature field, and never looked back en route to the victory. Seth Young, making his first start in nearly 10 years, came home in second, followed by Ricky Chamberlain in third, David Brown in fourth, and Brandon Hadden in fifth.
Zac Cox got the jump on the start of the Stock 4 feature, and went on to lead flag-to-flag for the win. Aiden Fortson, Kyle Braswell, Herbie Chinn, and Cameron Fowler rounded out the top five.
In the Young Guns feature, Cohen Fortson scored his second straight victory, with Koltin Bryant second, Jayden Navarro third, Skylar Brown fourth, and Kenneth House, Jr. fifth.
Christian Norris was flagged the winner of the Front Wheel Drive feature, but after the first, second, and third place finishers were all disqualified, Michael Davis found himself in victory lane. Melissa Pease was second, with Clinton Taylor third, Morgan Coker fourth, and David Jackson fifth.
Clay Collins took home top honors in the Georgia Enduro feature. Jimmy Hill finished in second, followed by Josh Nix in third, Adam Rouse in fourth, and Bobby Terry in fifth.
