Neil Meredith was fast in practice, fast in qualifying and fast when it counted in the Limited Late Model feature on Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway.
The Anderson, South Carolina native won the 40-lap feature to open the 2023 racing season at the 3/8-mile paved oval in Williamston, South Carolina.
Meredith edged out Austin Somero, who was second fastest in time trials, to record the victory. Archie Adams came home in third, with Austin Northcutt in fourth, and Justin Sorrow in fifth.
Jock White, Eric Wallace, R.A. Brown, Kenneth Headen, and Gary Greenwood, Jr. rounded out the top ten.
AMS also played host to the “Street Stock Showdown” on Friday night, with Gary Ledbetter taking home the winner’s trophy in the Street Stock feature. Austin Somero finished second, with Devin Kelley third, James Nanny fourth, and Boo Carlisle in fifth.
In other action, Riley Gentry took the win in the BM Modifieds feature. Bryan Mitchell followed in second, with Scott Robinson in third, Chuck Mitchell in fourth, and Ryan Howard in fifth.
B.J. Thrasher crossed under the checkered flag first to score the Mini Stock victory, with Ryan Howard in second, Chad Campbell in third, David Darnell in fourth, and Jeff Turner in fifth.
Mitchell Thompson beat out Zack Alexander for the US Legends feature win. Wesley Thompson finished third, with Ian Hampton fourth, and Dennis Brown fifth.
Spencer Darnell was the winner in the Pure Stocks feature, with Bobby Emory, Jr., Chris Lawson, Drexx Brezeale, and Reagan Darnell rounding out the top five.
Joshua Thomason scored the victory in the Front Wheel Drive feature. Tommy Davis followed him across the finish line in second, with Robert Hall in third, Casey Burkett in fourth, and Travis Barbare in fifth.
Anderson Motor Speedway is slated to return to racing on Saturday, April 8, as the track plays host to the Southeast Super Truck Series. Check AndersonMotorSpeedway.com for more info.
