Brandon Ward made the right move late in the going of Saturday night’s SMART Modified Tour feature at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina.
Ward passed Joey Coulter with seven laps to go, and drove to the victory.
“There’s nobody here that I’d rather race than Joey (Coulter),” Ward said. “He’s an excellent race car driver. We wanted to win and I know he did too and the last time we were here (Caraway) Joey did win (in 2022). He got loose and I got into his left rear and I thought he spun. I backed out to let him gather it up because I definitely didn’t want it to go down like that.”
Coulter rebounded to finish second, with Bobby Measmer, Jr. in third, Tim Brown in fourth, and Zach Brewer in fifth.
Jonathan Brown, Burt Myers, Brian Loftin, Daniel Yates, and Jonathan Cash rounded out the top 10.
