Terry McCarl Sweeps USCS Sprints Action At Southern

Terry McCarl brought his broom with him to Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida over the weekend.

The Altoona, Iowa native swept the weekend’s USCS Sprint Car Series action at the 3/8-mile dirt track, winning both Friday night and Saturday night in the feature events.

On Friday night, McCarl charged from his pole position to the early lead, and held off Mark Smith in a wheel-to-wheel battle through lapped traffic over the final 11 laps to score the win.

Mark Smith finished a car length behind McCarl to take second, with Danny Smith in third, Lance Moss in fourth, and Chris Martin in fifth.

Matt Covington, Brandon Anderson, and McCarl won their respective heats, with McCarl also winning the speed dash.

On Saturday, McCarl again started from the pole, and led all 30 laps en route to the win, taking the checkered flag two car lengths ahead of Davey Franek. Mark Smith finished third, with Jordan Mallett and Gavan Boschele rounding out the top five.

Mallett, McCarl, and Mark Smith won their respective heat races, with McCarl scoring the win in the speed dash.

The USCS Sprint Car Series is back in action on Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4, at Mississippi’s Hattiesburg Speedway. For more information, visit USCSRacing.com.
