Dennis Erb, Jr. and Brandon Sheppard toted home winner’s hardware from World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series action over the weekend.

Erb, Jr. was the winner at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri on Saturday, while Sheppard was the winner on Sunday night at Illinois’ Jacksonville Speedway.

On Saturday, Erb swept the inaugural St. Louis Firecracker Faceoff at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

The Carpentersville, Illinois driver took the lead from Jason Feger and drove away to a $20,000 payday.

Erb went unchallenged in the final 27 laps to best field for the second straight night with Bobby Pierce in second, and Feger in third.

“We were just riding out there and following (Feger) for a little bit,” Erb said. “I knew we were starting to get into traffic, and I was trying to watch him and see how he was entering the corner. He just went in there and gave me enough room to sneak up underneath him.”

Erb’s win is his fourth series victory of the season – the most of all drivers. It’s also his 13th overall career Series triumph and his 25th DIRTcar Summer Nationals win.

Shannon Babb crossed the line fourth, climbing as high as third before fading in the race’s late stages, with Gordy Gundaker in fifth.

On Sunday night, Brandon Sheppard led the final 13 laps of the Wild Man Kelly Classic at Jacksonville Speedway to earn his 79th career Series win, breaking the tie with Josh Richards for most wins all time.

“Our car has been really good at Jacksonville every time we come here,” the New Berlin, Illinois driver said. “I’ve won the past two DIRTcar Summer Nationals races here. So, we were definitely excited to get the B5 out.

“To break it out and win means the world to me and my family. There are so much and so many people that go into the B5 behind the scenes. It means the world to me to win, and to get the record in the B5 is pretty awesome.”

Sheppard started fifth in the 40-lap Feature and slowly worked his way through the field, passing Zebulon, Georgia’s Shane Clanton for second on a lap 19 restart.

Sheppard inched his way closer to leader Shannon Babb each lap before making the move in turn 4 to beat Babb to the start-finish line — a pass worth $10,000.

“I was really getting through both corners a little better than he was,” Sheppard said. “I showed him a little bit of the nose in the bottom of (turns) 1 and 2 and pressured him a little bit.

“Then I got back up on top, and he bobbled once in 1 and 2, and I got close, and then he bobbled in three and four, and then I was able to get a good run and slide him. It was an awesome race.” `

Babb settled for second, with Clanton in third, Tanner English in fourth, and Jason Feger in fifth.

Up next, the World of Outlaws CASE Late Models kick off their Northern swing with a trip to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday, July 15. For more information, visit WorldofOutlaws.com.
