Sam Seawright edged out Pearson Williams in a battle to the finish to win Saturday night’s Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series event at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama.
The win was worth a $5,050 payday for the Rainsville, Alabama native in an event that was part of the track’s 50th anniversary celebration. It marked Seawright’s first career series victory.
Seawright began reeling in Williams for the lead on lap 45, with Seawright taking advantage of a bobble by Williams in turn four.
The two battled for the lead over the closing laps, with Williams taking the white flag, only to again bobble, opening the door for Seawright. The duo raced side-by-side down the backstretch, with Seawright getting the advantage.
From there, Seawright held off Williams to claim the win.
Clint Smith followed in third, with Todd Morrow in fourth, and Dylan Knowles in fifth.
Cody Overton, Parker Martin, Cory Roulette, Billy Franklin, and Dillon Tidmore rounded out the top 10.
Up next for the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series is a trip to Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, Alabama on Saturday, June 20. For more information, visit SASDirt.com.
