Jonathan Davenport and Tim McCreadie powered to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victories over the holiday weekend in the Buckeye State.

Davenport drove to the win on Friday night at Ohio’s Portsmouth Raceway Park, while McCreadie topped the field on Saturday night at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio.

On Friday night, Davenport continued his series winning streak, as the Blairsville, Georgia racer scored the win in the Independence 50 at Portsmouth Raceway Park.

With 36 laps in the books, Kyle Bronson moved past Tim McCreadie to hold on to the second position for the remainder of the race. McCreadie led the first eight laps, but came home in third followed by Spencer Hughes in fourth and Tyler Erb in fifth.

Davenport won over Bronson by 2.5 seconds to record his third series win at Portsmouth Raceway Park.

“This old car has been really good this year, we have beat it to death,” said Davenport. “With these racetracks coming up on the schedule they each have a character of their own so that is why we saved the new one we had been running. This car ran as good as the new one.

“This place wasn’t too bad from my view. I had my doubts when we first got here. But from where I was, it was perfect. I got up beside McCreadie there and I knew I had to get by him. He is such a smart racer that he would move down in that line, and it was going to be hard to get by him. I hope I left him enough room over there when I got by him.”

On Saturday night, Tim McCreadie led all 50 laps to pick up the win in the Prime Solutions 50 at Muskingum County Speedway. McCreadie’s third series win of the season was his first ever win at the Moran Family-promoted facility. This victory was worth $15,000, the highest purse in the track’s history.

McCreadie’s 25th career series victory snapped Jonathan Davenport’s three-race series win streak. Kyle Bronson finished in the runner-up spot for the second night in a row. Spencer Hughes finished in third followed by Davenport in fourth and Gregg Satterlee in fifth.

McCreadie grabbed the lead at the start and went unchallenged the entire distance despite several restarts after caution flags. With his win from the pole position, it marked only the third time this season that a driver won from the starting spot.

Bronson ran second for the first 15 laps of the race until Hughes forged past him. After a restart, Bronson got back around Hughes for second, 1.6 seconds behind the winner at the finish.

“This is what it’s all about, racing in front of big, energetic crowds like tonight,” said McCreadie. “My car owners, Donald and Gena, keep telling me ‘you’re fast, you’re fast, just hang in there.’ I told my crew chief that I just can’t figure out this right rear shock. We called Kevin Rumley up tonight and asked him what we should do. As bad as I felt last night, this thing tonight felt amazing.”
