Chris Madden and Brandon Overton both recorded Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series victories over the weekend.
Madden took the win in the season points opener on Friday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee, while Overton took home top honors at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia.
On Friday night, Madden overtook race leader Ross Bailes on lap nine and drove to a $10,053 payday at Smoky Mountain Speedway.
It marked the 25th career series victory for the Gray Court, South Carolina speedster.
One caution flag slowed the 53-lap event, when David Payne flipped his car in turn two after contact with Mark Whitener. Payne was uninjured, but the race went under the red flag to allow for track cleanup.
Dale McDowell finished in second, with Cory Hedgecock in third, Brandon Overton in fourth and Ross Bates in fifth.
Chris Ferguson, Mark Whitener, Tyler Millwood, Vic Hill and Donald McIntosh rounded out the top 10.
On Saturday night, Brandon Overton took the lead from Chris Madden on lap 21 and led the remaining distance en route to the win at Wythe Raceway.

Two cautions slowed the event. The first came on lap three as G.R. Smith slowed in turn four. The final yellow came on lap 19 as a driveshaft from Cory Hedgecock’s car came out on to the racing surface.
