Ty Majeski won the night, Derek Griffith won the week.
In the final Super Late Model race of the 2020 World Series of Stock Car Asphalt Racing at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway, Ty Majeski earned his 100th SLM victory en route to the Orange Blossom 100 on Saturday night.
The milestone victory for the Seymour, Wisconsin racer came 24 hours after a lap 15 crash in Friday’s NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series left him sliding on his roof at Daytona International Speedway.
Majeski started pressuring pole sitter Anthony Sergi around lap 40 and kept it on until he eventually moved to the point on lap 72.
After a caution with 21 laps to go led to a restart, Majeski executed it flawlessly, cruising to the win. Brad May came home in second, with Jesse Love in third, Derek Griffith in fourth and Senoia, Georgia’s Bubba Pollard in fifth.
Griffith’s fourth place result gave him the week-long World Series championship by a 10 point margin over May.
Griffith finished outside the top five only once all week, and called in the highlight of his entire racing career.
Sammy Smith, Ryan Moore, Sergi, Justin Mondeik and Daniel Dye rounded out the top ten.
