After a pair of rain outs last week at Georgia’s Toccoa Raceway, Frankie Beard made up for lost time by scoring a closely contested Midsouth Cage Equipment 604 Pro Late Models feature.
The Hartwell, Georgia veteran held off 16-year-old Payton Freeman for the win at the historic 5/16 mile clay speedway. Drew Collins finished in third.
Collins leads the division standings going into the final points race this Saturday night.
In other action, David McCoy cruised to victory in the Phillips Group Limited Late Model feature. McCoy topped division points leader Drew Benfield in second and Wesley English in third.
Crandall Turner started on the pole for the Safety Plus 602 Sportsman race, but it was Ricky Smith who got the holeshot into turn one on the first lap and hung on for the win. Turner, the division points leader, placed second with Matthew Ferguson in third.
Daniel Snow went to victory lane for the second time this season as he took the checkers in the Modified Street feature. Mack English was second, with points leader Billy Buffington third.
Benji Stewart looked to be cruising to a second victory in a row in the Toccoa Pro Trucks when his engine exploded on the final lap, engulfing his truck in flames. Stewart quickly climbed out while track safety officials extinguished the fire.
That moved Brad Nickerson to the point and to his first career division win. Points leader Bill Pulliam finished in second.
Jackie Holden took the win in the Stock 4 feature, with brother Harley Holden in second. Jamie Brown finished in third. Bobby Boshears leads the division points standings going into next week.
Hayden Collett scored the victory in the Stock 8 feature, with Cameron Collett in second and points leader Brady Hunt in third.
Logan Carlyle took the win over J.T. Turner in the 602 Young Guns feature.
Toccoa Raceway will play host to the 5th annual Stephen Wragg Memorial on Saturday, August 3, the final points paying race of the season. For more details, visit ToccoaRaceway.com.
