Kenny Collins showed that a rain delay to Sunday afternoon couldn’t keep him out of victory lane at Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway.

The Danielsville, Georgia racer got to the front of the Limited Late Model field, and then held Drew Benfield at bay to score the victory in Sunday’s Max King Memorial at the 3/8-mile clay raceway.

The win came on a rare Sunday afternoon race at Lavonia after track officials chose to push Friday night’s event to later in the weekend after rains pelted the North Georgia area on Thursday.

Mason Tucker finished in third, with Wesley English in fourth and Chris Woods in fifth.

In other action, Cody Overton scored the victory in the Crate Late Model feature. Drew Collins came home in second, with David McCoy in third and Cody Pritchett in fourth.

Kole Hardy was the winner in the 602/Hobby feature, with Monk Gulledge in second, Steve “Hot Rod” LaMance in third, former NASCAR Cup Series driver Jeremy Mayfield in fourth and Shun Thomas in fifth.

Sterling Helm added to his overall win total for the early season with a victory in the Modified Street feature. Daniel Doster, Todd Hammond and Josh Thurmond rounded out the top four.

Jack Hill scored his second Stock V8 feature win of the weekend on Sunday, one day after winning up the road at Hartwell Speedway. Evan Brown finished in second, followed by Tim Corbin in third and Austin Alexander in fourth.

Kevin Kelly took home top honors in the Stock 4 feature, with Matt Gilbert in second, Jamie Massey in third, Geoffrey Holbrooks in fourth and Randy Boshears in fifth.

Jacob Kelly was the Young Guns feature winner. Zack Brown followed in second, with Hoyt Partain in third.

Travis Jameson edged out Scott Hendricks for the Front Wheel Drive feature win, with Daniel Earnest in third and William Earnest in fourth.

Lavonia Speedway is slated to host the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on Saturday, May 4. For more information, check LavoniaSpeedway.net.
