Dale McDowell and Chris Madden notched victories in the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series over the weekend.
McDowell scored the win on Friday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama, while Madden raced to the victory at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway on Saturday night.
On Friday, McDowell led all 40 laps en route to his second series victory of the season at Talladega Short Track.
It’s the 11th career victory for the Chickamauga, Georgia racer, and was worth a $4,000 payday.
Four yellow flags slowed the 40-lap feature. The first caution came on lap 12 as Cory Hedgecock came to rest in turn two. The second flew on lap 13 as Josh Adkins and Will Roland got together in turn two and spun. The third came on lap 29 as Tim Roszell spun right in front of leader McDowell in turn two. The final yellow came on the restart as a multi-car incident in turn three slowed the field yet again.
Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh finished in second, with Tanner English in third, Joseph Brown in fourth and Austin Horton in fifth.
On Saturday night, Chris Madden scored his fourth career series win at Senoia Raceway.
The win was worth a cool $10,000 for the Gray Court, South Carolina speedster.
Madden grabbed the lead from Michael Page on lap 12 and led the remaining 48 laps for the victory.
Two caution flags slowed the feature. The first came on lap 15 as Zach Leonhardi slowed in turn one. The final would wave on lap 54 as Dalton Polston slowed in turn three.
Jimmy Owens, Page, McDowell, and Ashton Winger rounded out the top five.
The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series returns to action on Friday, April 12 at Clay Valley Speedway in Coeburn, Virginia. That’s followed on Saturday, April 13 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee.
