Jimmy Johnson cracked open the new race season at Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway on Friday night by scoring the Limited Late Model win at the 3/8-mile clay raceway.
Johnson, who hails from Monroe, Georgia, held off Will Harris en route to the victory. Mason Tucker finished in third, followed by Jay Motes in fourth and Jody Russell in fifth.
In other action, Cody Pritchett took home the win in the Crate Late Model feature. Payton Freeman crossed the finish line in second, with Adam Smith in third, Drew Collins in fourth and Andrew Cole in fifth.
Crandall Turner kept his local win streak going with the win in the Hobby feature. Rod Roberts followed in second, with Brandon Stroud third, former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield in fourth and Cody Overton in fifth.
Sterling Helm was flagged the winner in the Modified Street feature, but saw that go away when he failed post race tech inspection. That moved Kyle Gordon to victory lane, with Aaron Calvert, Smokey Roberts and Josh Thurmond rounding out the top five.
Nathan Bowen took the Stock 8 feature victory. Ty Anglin finished in second, with Rocky Jones in third, Bradlee Jones in fourth and Seth Brown in fifth.
Jamie Massey scored the win in the Stock 4 feature, with Matt Gilbert second, Johnny Raines third, Scott Hollars fourth and Jeff Holbrooks fifth.
Mason Mack held off Trey Chapman for the Front Wheel Drive feature victory. Trey Chapman finished second, with Eddie Segars third, Wayne Chapman fourth and Ricky Holcombe fifth.
Hoyt Partain was the winner in the Young Guns feature, with Seth Christenson finishing in second.
