Ownbey Takes $3,000 Super Late Model Win At Boyd’s

John Ownbey raced to his first Super Late Model win of the 2019 season in Saturday’s annual ‘Shamrock’ race at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia.

The Cleveland, Tennessee racer pocketed $3,000 for the victory.

After qualifying fastest in his group in time trials, Ownbey outran fellow front row starter Cruz Skinner to take lead, then went on to hold off all challengers en route to the win.

Skinner held on to finish in second, with Jordan Rodabaugh in third, Tod Hernandez in fourth and fifth Richard Smith in fifth.

Bobby Giffin, David Seibers, Phil Helton, Brad Skinner and Corey Hedgecock rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Brandon Williams was the winner in the Crate Late Model feature, holding off Booger Brooks for the win. Sam Seawright came home in third, with Cory Hedgecock in fourth and Brad Skinner in fifth.

Justin Winters scored the victory in the Sportsman feature. Colton Roberts finished second, with Jake Green third, Evan Wrinkle, Jr. fourth and John Clark fifth.

Tray Cagle held off Earnest Turner for the Hot Shots feature win. Brad Cross, Jeff Peardon and Dustin Petty rounded out the top five.

Richard Dixon took top honors in the Hobby feature, with Jeff Allen in second, Brian Stepherson in third, Michael Allen in fourth and Brandon Stanfield in fifth.

Tommy Gilbert came home with the Super Stock feature win. Evan Wrinkle, Jr. was second, followed by Lamar Hughes in third, Jim Gilbert in fourth and Sam Jones in fifth.

Lance Harris was the Driver Development Class winner, with Hayden Swaney second, Roger Morrow third, Carden Cochran fourth and Stevie Brannon fifth.
