Southern All Stars Series Announces 2019 Race Schedule

The 2019 race season looks to be one of the busiest years yet for the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series.

Series officials have announced that the preliminary schedule has 20 dates confirmed for the 2019 season, with a few more dates to be added in the coming days.

The season is slated to open on Sunday, March 3 at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Caroline with the 16th Annual March Madness race, paying $12,000 to win. This race has been a traditional opener for the series for 15 years and always draws good car counts and crowds.

The series then heads south for the 3rd Annual Bash at the Beach at Southern Raceway in Milton, Florida on March 15-16 with a $3,000 to win show on Friday and a $7,000 to win on Saturday. The series also makes another stop at the Southern Raceway Labor Day Weekend, as the track will be celebrating its 31st anniversary with a pair of races on August 31 and September 1, paying $4,000 on Saturday and $5,000 on Sunday.

Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, Tennessee returns to the scheduled in 2019, with have two events on the season. The first will be on Saturday, April 20, with $4,000 on the line to win. The second will be on July 6 for the Fourth of July Spectacular, paying $4,000 to win.

Maryville, Tennessee’s Smoky Mountain Speedway will have two SAS events in 2019, starting with the “Rockin’ With The Stars race on Friday night, April 26, paying $5,000 to the winner. The second event will be on September 28, as the tracks will host the King of the Mountain race, with $7,500 on the line for the winner.

The Southern All Stars will make tree trips to Eastaboga, Alabama’s Talladega Short Track, beginning on April 27. The second race will be on October 12, with both paying $4,000 to the victory. The speedway also plays host to the 2nd Annual Governors Cup on Saturday, August 10, paying $10,000 to the winner.

Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee returns to the schedule in 2019 with a pair of $4,000 to win events. The first will be May 4 for the Ducktona 40, with the second on June 29.

Georgia’s Senoia Raceway will twice host the SAS. The first will mark the 50th anniversary of the speedway on May 18 with $4,000 on the line for the winner. The second is the prestigious Michael Head, Jr. Memorial on June 22, paying $5,454 to win.

New to the schedule in 2019 is Kentucky’s Richmond Raceway, as the Southern All Stars will take part in the 3rd Annual Mike Roland Memorial on Saturday night June 1.

South Georgia gets in on the action with a pair of races on Friday and Saturday night, September 13 and 14 at the Oglethorpe Speedway in Pooler, Georgia, and Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia. Oglethorpe will be paying $4,000 to win and Screven $10,000 to win.

I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee will return for its second year hosting the series, on September 21 with $4,000 to win.

Series officials say they are working to confirm a few more dates and should have the schedule completed by the end of the month.
