Adam Smith proved to be the man to beat on Saturday night at Georgia’s Toccoa Raceway.
The Carnesville, Georgia driver took home the victory in the FASTRAK Racing Series feature at the historic 5/16 mile clay speedway.
It marked Smith’s first touring series victory, giving him a $2,000 payday.
Smith started the night by winning the pole and his heat race, and would bring the field down to the green flag alongside outside pole sitter David McCoy. Smith took command as the field powered into turn one on the opening lap and went on to lead all 40 laps.
McCoy finished a close second, Brett Hamm in third, Matthew Nance in fourth and Blake Craft in fifth.
McCoy bettered his finishing position by one in the Midsouth Cage Equipment Limited Late Model feature. McCoy edged out Drew Collins to record his 12th division feature win. Jimmy Johnson followed in third.
Crandall Turner powered to his sixth win of the season in the Safety Plus 602 Sportsman division feature. Rusty House finished in second, Branden Loudermilk in third, Brandon Stroud in fourth and former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield in fifth.
Helm scored his eighth Modified Street feature win of the season after starting from the pole. Billy Buffington was second, with Chris Nickerson third.
Cameron Collett recorded the win in the Stock V-8 feature. Collett was pressured hard by his brother, Hayden, throughout the race, until Hayden slammed the wall off turn four on the final circuit. Nickoli Holcomb finished in second, with Ricky Jones in third.
In the Toccoa Pro Trucks feature, Matthew Furgerson powered to his third win in a row and seventh of the season. Sterling Helm and Spud Nicholson rounded out the top three.
Jamie Massey recorded his first Toccoa Raceway win in some time in the Stock 4 feature. Kevin Kelly came home in second, followed by Randy Boshears in third.
Tony Stevens picked up his first victory in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Front Wheel Drive feature. Tommy Davis finished in second, with Travis Barbare in third.
In the Kettle Construction Company Young Guns feature, Caylan Kettle got his fourth straight win, followed by Jacob Kelly in second and Will Kettle in third.
