Mark Chancey outran the rain and the competition to score the victory in Saturday night’s Stock V8 feature at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway.
Chancey started the feature from fourth place, with pole sitter Trip Sexton and Jeff Casper bringing the field to green.
Casper jumped to the early lead, with Chancey powering to second and Ronnie Poole in third.
One lap later, Poole’s car slowed coming through turns three and four, bringing out the caution.
On the restart, Casper jumped back to the lead, but a slip off turn two allowed Chancey to take the point. That went away when the second caution of the night flew, negating the pass.
On the restart, Casper again moved away into the lead, with Chancey in pursuit. One lap later, the two collided off turn two, with Chancey charging ahead into the lead.
From there, Chancey went on to lead the rest of the way to score the victory. Casper finished in second, followed by Sexton in third and Johnny Hill in fourth.
In other action, Justin Taylor held off Kyle Braswell for the win in the Stock 4A feature. Cody Albright finished in third, with Allen Cantrell in fourth and Elliott Brayboy in fifth.
Soon after, the rains moved in over Winder, Georgia, washing out the rest of the night’s action.
Winder-Barrow Speedway is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, July 28, with the track playing host to the Mini Late Models. For more information, visit WinderBarrowSpeedway.net.
