Pennington Prevails For Lavonia Crate Late Model Victory

Travis Pennington drove to the Crate Late Model victory at Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway on Friday night.

Pennington, from Stapelton, Georgia, held off Frankie Beard en route to the win at the 3/8-mile clay race track.

Payton Freeman finished in third, with Joshua Bishop in fourth and Larry Timms in fifth.

Andrew Cole, Colby Cannon, Adam Partain, Kenny Collins and Nick Schlager rounded out the top ten finishers.

In other action, David McCoy held off Jimmy Johnson to score his 400th career victory in the Limited Late Model feature. Bubba Russell finished in third, followed by Clayton Turner in fourth and Brandon Haley in fifth.

Dale Timms took the win in the Hobby/602 feature. Rusty House came home in second, followed by Cameron Crowe in third, Crandall Turner in fourth and Lance Chitwood into fifth.

Justin Sims scored the victory in the Modified Street feature, with Sterling Helm in second, Tyler Canup in third, Tye Nalley in fourth and Justin Barnes in fifth.

Ben Carswell was the winner in the Stock 8 feature, with Jack Hill, Nate Royston, Matthew Wall and Terry Calhoun rounding out the top five.

In the Stock 4 feature, Jeffrey Lord held off Harley Holden for the win. Benji Griffin finished third, with Chris Little fourth and Joey Kelly fifth.

Preston Kelly took the victory in the Beginner 4 feature, followed by Logan Beard in second, Nathaniel Little in third, Caylan Kettle in fourth and Bryce Moody in fifth.

Scott Hendricks scored the win in the Front Wheel Drive feature. Tony Stevens finished in second, followed by North West in third, D.J. Carey in fourth and Wayne Glenn in fifth.

After taking a week off, Lavonia Speedway returns to action on Thursday, May 3, as the speedway plays host to the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. For more information, visit LavoniaSpeedway.net.
