Casey Roderick raced to the Pro Late Model feature victory on Saturday night at Alabama’s Montgomery Motor Speedway – but it didn’t come easy.

The Lawrenceville, Georgia racer survived contact while racing three-wide with Augie Grill and Dustin Smith for the lead on the final laps, and drove to his first Montgomery PLM victory of the season.

John Bolen and Grill brought the field down to the start of the feature, with Grill jumping out to the early lead on the outside. Grill would pace the event until a single car spin by Jolyn Wilkinson brought out the first caution.

Another caution on lap 32 bunched up the field, and on the restart, Roderick took his first turn of the night at the front of the pack.

As the laps began to wind down, the action picked up. Roderick lost the lead after contact with Bobby Knox allowed Smith to slip past into the top spot. Smith held the lead for the next three laps, when Roderick made a move on the outside to challenge for the lead on the final lap.

Smith moved high to try to take Roderick’s line away, opening the door for Grill to drive down to the inside. Contact between all three cars sent Smith spinning coming out of turn four.

Meanwhile, Roderick was able to take the lead, and went on to his first win of the season at the Alabama raceway.

Grill finished in second, with Knox in third, Wilkinson in fourth and Smith in fifth.

Aiden Eldridge, Bill Bethea III, John Bolen, Harold Crooms and Perry Patino rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Joe Bethea, Jr. scored the Outlaw Stocks feature win. Jason Furrow finished second, with Mikall Rawls third, Regan Baker fourth and Jeremy Birchfield fifth.

Jeremy Williams took the Modified Mini feature victory, with Jacob Hill in second, Austin Franklin in third, Rusty Alverson in fourth and Joe Wingard in fifth.

Trey Grimes was the winner in the Coca-Cola Street Stock feature. Brian Hutchinson came home in second, with Jason Sanford in third, Kamerson Wesenberg in fourth and J.C. Clecker in fifth.

Montgomery Motor Speedway will be back in action on May12. For more information, visit MontgomeryMotorSpeedway.org.
