Kenneth Headen added to his career win total at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, South Carolina Saturday night, as he scored the win in the 2018 season opener for the Southeast Super Truck Series.
Headen took the lead on a lap 26 restart, and held the point the rest of the way to score the win at the quick 3/8 mile speedway.
Ashley Huffman turned in quick time in qualifying, but an invert roll of four moved Jimmy Roberts to the pole for the start of the feature.
But trouble struck Roberts as the field followed the pace truck prior to the start, as his truck rolled to a stop on the backstretch with mechanical problems. That moved Ashton Higgins to the pole, with Luke Sorrow on the outside of the front row.
Higgins and Sorrow battled side-by-side for the first three laps before Sorrow moved to the point. He would continue to pace the field until lap 26, when the first caution of the night flew when the truck of Ed Surrett came to a stop on the backstretch.
Sorrow led the field back to the green flag, but before the field could complete a lap, the caution came back out again when Toby Hollifield spun coming out of turn four.
On the restart, Headen took advantage of being on the outside of the front row to charge into the lead. From there, Headen went on to score the win, with Randy Porter in second, Sorrow in third, Huffman in fourth and Jamie Barbrey in fifth.
The Southeast Super Truck Series returns to action on Saturday, April 28 at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Granite Falls, North Carolina. For more information, visit SouthEastTrucks.net.
