Wet Weekend Causes Headaches For Local Race Tracks

A wave of showers and cold weather wreaked havoc with the racing scene in North Georgia and across the southeast over the weekend.

Several speedways and touring series were forced to postpone or cancel races slated for the weekend.

At Atlanta Motor Speedway, Week 4 of the 2018 Furious Five series was postponed, with Weeks 4 and 5 now set to be run on a double-feature on Saturday, May 12. For more information, visit AtlantaMotorSpeedway.com.

Georgia’s Hartwell Speedway also fell victim to the rain, moving the track’s first points paying event to Saturday, April 14. For more info, visit Hartwell-Speedway.com.

Across the South Carolina line, both Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston and Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley were forced to postpone their weekend events. Other tracks that saw their events washed out included Tennessee’s Kingsport Speedway and Virginia’s South Boston Speedway. The rain also spelled trouble for several dirt track touring series. The ULTIMATE Super Late Models were slated to compete at County Line Raceway in Elm City, North Carolina.
