Chad Puckett opened up the 2018 racing season at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway with a trip to victory lane after winning the Limited Late Model feature at the 1/4 mile clay raceway.
Puckett had to battle early with John Anderson, with the two racing side-by-side on the opening lap before Puckett finally took the lead on the outside of turn four.
Anderson would close again a couple of laps later, and by passed Puckett for the lead as the duo raced off the second turn. As the race unfolded, the two would continue to race side-by-side, with Anderson running the high line as Puckett worked the inside line.
Puckett would get the edge around the sixth lap, when Anderson tagged the outside wall as they raced down the backstretch, sending sparks flying. Puckett would clear him coming off turn four for the lead.
Over the closing laps, Puckett moved out to a sizeable advantage, while Anderson found himself coming under fire from Ken Lampp.
In the end, it was Puckett taking the win, with Lampp making the pass for second around Anderson coming off turn four to the checkered flag.
Logan Stinchcomb finished in fourth, with Shawn Tullis in fifth.
In other action, Wormy Gaddis edged out Aaron Criswell for the win in the Modified Street feature, with Jimmy Lee Langley in third and Jordan Poole in fourth.
Ronnie Poole took top honors in the Stock V8 feature. Stephen House came home in second, with Mark Chancey in third, Tyler Smith in fourth and Roy Looney, Jr. in fifth.
In the Hobby feature, Rod Roberts scored the win, with Dustin Cason, Austin Brumbelow, Andy Barton and Richard Clarke rounded out the top five.
Justin Taylor took the win in the Stock 4A feature. Zack Sanders finished in second, with Allen Cantrell in third, Austin Robinson in fourth and Joseph Dyer in fifth.
Nick Fulcher was the winner in the Stock 4B feature, with Stephen Bradshaw second, Franklin Sargent third, Mark Parker, Jr. fourth and Willard Earnest fifth.
