Chad Puckett had to work hard to score the win in Saturday night’s Limited Late Model feature at Georgia’s Winder-Barrow Speedway.
Brant Carey was nipping at his heels through most of the race, including on a late race restart. But Puckett was able to stay out front to record the victory at the 3/8-mile clay raceway.
Puckett jumped out to the early lead from the pole, with Ken Lampp and Carey in tow. Lampp tried an outside move in turn two on the opening lap, only to find Carey moving past him for second.
Time and again, Carey would challenge Puckett, but could not get a run. The battle was broken up momentarily when the first caution of the race flew when Chris Woods slowed on the frontstretch.
Carey got one more shot at Puckett when the caution flew before the end of the final lap when Jimmy Webb’s car slowed coming off turn two.
On the restart, Puckett pulled out to a three car length advantage, and held Carey at bay to score the victory.
