The Peach State trio of Donald McIntosh, Casey Roberts and Brandon Overton scored victories in Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series action in Georgia over the past week.

McIntosh, of Dawsonville, Georgia, ran his series win streak up to three wins on Thursday at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway, and Friday at Georgia’s Swainsboro Raceway.

Roberts, of Toccoa, Georgia, was the winner on Saturday at Sylvania, Georgia’s Screven Motor Speedway. Overton, from Evans, Georgia, was the winner on Monday night at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia.

On Thursday night, McIntosh became the first repeat winner of the 2017 series tour, following up a win earlier in the week at Tennessee’s 411 Speedway with another win at Senoia Raceway.

McIntosh would take the lead at the drop of the green flag, and by lap two would hold the advantage over the field. As the race reached the mid-way point at lap 18, Brandon Overton began working to close in on the leader. The only caution of the event came out on lap 31, brought out by Farrel Skelton and setting up a five-lap shootout for the win.

On the restart, McIntosh again pulled out to the lead, and went on to score the victory. Overton finished in second, with Shanon Buckingham in third, Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Georgia in fourth and Riley Hickman in fifth.

On Friday night, McIntosh survived the 53 lap event at Swainsboro Raceway to claim his third-straight series victory.

McIntosh, who led laps 32 through 39 before giving way to Casey Roberts, reclaimed the lead from Roberts following a restart on lap 40 and led the final 13 circuits to win the fourth series race of his career. Enduring 11 cautions along the way, McIntosh pulled away over the final eight laps to win by a 6.063 seconds.

McIntosh was one of four leaders – joining Riley Hickman, Overton and Roberts – on a night when just finishing the race seemed like a victory in itself.

“I don’t believe I’ve worked (that) hard in 24 years,” said McIntosh. “Three (wins) in a row, that’s just now sinking in. I just wanted the race to be over. He said five to go (on the Raceceiver) and swear we ran a dozen (more laps) there.”

Buckingham, Dennis Franklin, Brent Dixon, and Scott Shirey rounded out the top five.

On Saturday night, Casey Roberts took home the series victory at Screven Motor Speedway.

The win made him the fourth different winner with the tour in 2017.

Brandon Overton took the lead off the start, with Mark Whitner and Dennis Franklin in pursuit. Roberts would charge to fourth place on lap three, and would begin working to move to the front. By lap 19, Roberts had moved to second and was beginning to reel in the leader.

As Overton raced in heavy lap traffic on lap 33, Roberts closed the gap. On lap 40, the race went away for Overton when he cut a tire by running over a piece of debris. As his car slowed, he drew the first caution of the vent.

Roberts inherited the lead, but would come under pressure from Shanon Buckingham, with the duo racing side-by-side on lap 44.

Roberts was finally able to clear Buckingham, and led the rest of the way to score the win. Buckingham finished in second, with Mark Whitener in third, Dennis Franklin in fourth and Ross Bailes in fifth.

The series was next set to compete on Sunday night at Georgia’s Rome Speedway, but wet weather led the race to be rescheduled to August 20.

On Monday, Brandon Overton scored his second series win of the season at Boyd’s Speedway.

Overton jumped to the lead on the drop of the green flag, and would hold the point the rest of the way through three cautions to record the victory. Crag Vosbergen finished second, with Casey Roberts third, Ronnie Johnson fourth and Jake Knowles fifth.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals returns to action on Thursday, July 27, at Tennessee’s Crossville Speedway.
