Brandon Overton dominated Monday night en route to the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series victory at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina.

The win was worth $3,500 for the Evans, Georgia wheelman, as he led all 35 laps in the feature event.

Overton jumped to the lead at the start, with Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh and Steve Casebolt giving chase, while Craig Vosbergen and Shanon Buckingham battled for the fourth position.

Overton would stretch his lead in the early going and would start working slower traffic by lap six. Buckingham would finally win the battle for fourth with Vosbergen and claim the position on lap seven. The first of three caution flags waved on lap 11 when a multi-car tangle on the frontstretch eliminated Jason Welshan from competition.

The restart would see Overton and McIntosh pull away from the field. Behind them, Buckingham challenged Casebolt for the third spot, finally taking it on lap 13. Overton would start working traffic again by lap 15 as Toccoa, Georgia’s Casey Roberts made his way into the top five. One lap later, he moved around Casebolt to take fourth.

Roberts continued his charged, as he took third from Buckingham on lap 23, and then moved around McIntosh for second four laps later. Roberts’ charge to the front would be aided by a caution flag on lap 30 when Levi Hicks stopped in turn one with mechanical issues. At the same time, McIntosh entered the pits to replace a flat left-rear tire and return.

Overton would pull away from Roberts on the restart and it looked to be smooth sailing, but a final caution on lap 33 for a spin by Jason Walker would close the field up one final time.

The final restart would see Overton not be denied on this night and he would see the checkered flag first to take the win. Roberts finished in second, with Buckingham in third, Vosbergen in fourth, and Casebolt in fifth.

Jake Knowles, Kenny Collins, McIntosh, Robby Moses, and Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. rounded out the top ten.
