Racers double up with a pair of Summit ET drag racing events at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia on Saturday.
And what better way to start than with a first time winner, as 23-year-old Paige Brown scored her first Super Pro victory.
Brown, in her 1975 Vega, defeated Wayne Brooks in his ’98 Racetech dragster in the final. Brown ran a 7.003 ET on her 6.98 dial in at 97.81 mph and a reaction of 0.010. Brooks ran a d4.501 ET off his dial of 4.49 at 153.89 mph and a reaction of 0.035.
In the Pro final, Mel Abney in his Chevy II got his first win of 2017 by defeating Mickey Morris in his ’73 Vega. Abney ran a 6.931 ET off his 6.94 dial in (break out) at 97.54 mph and a 0.042 reaction time. Morris ran a 6.547 ET with a dial in of 6.56 at 103.91 mph but fouled on the start with a -0.005 reaction.
James Noel took the Sportsman victory, as he defeated Scott Reynolds in the final. Noel ran a 16.117 ET on his 16.03 dial in at 86.82 mph and a 0.032 reaction time. Reynolds ran a 13.385 ET off his 13.39 dial in (break out) at 96.29 mph and a reaction time of 0.106.
Drew Queen got his first Super Pro Bike win, as he defeated Jimmy Heisler in the final. Queen ran a 9.580 ET on h is 9.50 dial in at 125.74 mph and a reaction of 0.282. Heisler ran a 10.741 off his dial of 10.75 (break out) at 118.04 mph and a 0.068 reaction time.
Michael Mann took the Street ET Bike win, defeating Andrew Patterson in the final. Mann ran a 9.491 on his dial in of 9040 at 124.84 mph and a 0.108 reaction. Patterson ran a 9.175 on his 9.02 dial in (break out) at 148.59 mph and a reaction of 0.046.
In the second set of races, Commerce, Georgia’s Mike Hancock defeated Wayne Brooks for the win in the Super Pro final. Hancock ran a 5.727 ET on his 5.73 dial in (break out) at 120.61 mph and a 0.020 reaction. Hancock pushed his Vega when he saw his win light come on due to Brooks fouling on the start. Brooks ran a 4.439 ET off his 4.43 dial in at 156.39 mph but had a foul start with a reaction of -0.003.
In the Pro final, Kelly King defeated Toby Barnes. King ran a 6.468 ET on his 6.46 dial in (dead on) at 104.07 mph and a 0.013 reaction time. Barnes ran dead on his dial in of 7.38 with a 7.382 ET at 92.00 mph and a 0.035 reaction time.
King had a single in the semifinals while Barnes faced Wade Bryant from Bowman, GA in his ’68 Camaro.
Scott Reynolds took the win in the Sportsman final, defeating Joey Rutledge for the win. Reynolds ran a 13.371 ET on his dial of 13.32 at 104.13 mph with a 0.055 reaction. Rutledge ran a 12.307 ET off his 12.33 dial in at 108.92 mph and a reaction of 0.096.
Jimmy Heisler bested Andrew Patterson for the Super Pro Bike win. Heisler ran a 10.704 ET on a 10.66 dial in at 123.17 mph and a 0.086 reaction time in the final. Patterson ran an 8.952 of his dial of 9.01 (break out) at 139.34 mph and a 0.113 reaction.
Andrew Patterson defeated Randy Barnett for the Street ET Bike victory. In the final, Patterson ran a 9.037 ET on his dial in of 8.99 at 139.43 mph and a 0.051 reaction time. Barnett ran a 9.595 ET with a dial in of 9.45 at 124.28 mph and a reaction of 0.012.
