It was a successful weekend for sprint car driver Morgan Turpen, as she swept the USCS Sprint Car Series weekend.
The Cordova, Tennessee pushed her series win total for the year to eight with a win on Friday at Alabama’s Fort Payne Motor Speedway, followed by another victory on Saturday night at Georgia’s Blue Ridge Motorsports Park.
On Friday night, Turpen held off Jordan Mallett for the victoyr at Fort Payne Motor Speedway. Mallett made a mid-race pass for the lead that was negated by a caution that came out that came out on that same lap.
From there, Turpen held Mallett at bay to record her seventh win of the season. Terry Gray finished in third, followed by Dale Howard in fourth and Lee Moore in fifth.
Brandon McLain, Joey Schmidt, Joe Larkin, Jeff Willingham and Brian Thomas rounded out the top ten.
On Saturday night at Blue Ridge Motorsports Park, Turpen made a mid-race pass on Dale Howard, and then pulled away to a healthy, 10-car length lead en route to her eighth series win of the season.
“I really had to race hard tonight for this one and I really appreciate the car Terry Gray gave me tonight,” she said. “We really like this J&J Auto Racing car, it has been fast every night.”
Howard settled for second, with Kyle Amerson in third, Ryan Coniam in fourth and Gray in fifth.
Willingham, Larkin, Don Warren, Schmidt and Thomas rounded out the top ten.
