For the second straight day, wet weather delayed the running of one of the most prestigious asphalt Super Late Model races in the country.
With rain again pelting the area, race officials at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida have pushed back the running of the 49th annual Snowball Derby to Tuesday, December 6.
Wet weather had already postponed the event from it’s original Sunday race date.
Heavy storms moved into the area around the speedway Monday afternoon, leaving the speedway and the pit area drenched. To make matters worse, a tornado watch was issued for the Pensacola area going well into the evening.
The weather for Tuesday continues to look promising. Weather forecasts for the area have showers moving out of the area around 5 am, with clear skies and temperatures in the lower 60s expected by race time.
Pre-race ceremonies for Tuesday are now slated to start at 4 pm (CST), with the green flag scheduled to fly at 5 pm (CST).
NASCAR driver William Byron will lead the field down to the green when the race finally gets underway, with Ty Majeski starting in second.
Dawsonville, Georgia’s Spencer Davis set to start third, with Bubba Pollard of Senoia, Georgia’s rolling off from alongside in the fourth starting position. Marietta, Georgia’s Kyle Plott will start from the fifth position.
