Dale McDowell charged to the lead early, and drove to the win in Saturday night’s dirt Super Late Model Leftover 50 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee.
The victory was worth a $5,000 payday to the Chickamauga, Georgia driver, who topped a stout field of 22 cars for the victory.
Jimmy Owens statrted the feature form the pole, with McDowell alongside. On the drop of the green, McDowell powered to the lead, with Owens and Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh in pursuit.
The first caution of the event came when Mack McCarter slowed, bringing out the yellow flag. Back under green, McDowell continued to lead, with Owens and McIntosh battling for the runner-up spot.
As the laps wound down, Owens would finally move around McIntosh, and then began working to try to reel in the leader. With five laps to go, Owens closed the gap, and was able to get alongside McDowell at one point.
But McDowell held off the challenge, and went on to score the victory. Owens finished in second, with McIntosh in third, Jackie Boggs in fourth and Jason Hiett in fifth.
Jason Welshan, Layne Clifton, Jason Cardwell, Michael Chilton and Ryan King rounded out the top ten.
In other action, Jason Welshan took the lead in the Crate Late Model feature after early leader Greg Martin tagged the turn two wall. From there, Welshan went on to hold off Jason Manley for the victory. Donald McIntosh finished in third, while Martin held on to finish fourth. Ross White finished in fifth.
K.C. Burdette held off Jimmy Owens to pick up the Open Wheel feature victory. Lucas Lee came home in third, with Clayton Miller in fourth and Lee Victor in fifth.
Jed Emert jumped out to the early lead in the Sportsman feature, and went on to record the victory. Matt Tharp finished second, with Adam Mitchell third, Brad Seagle fourth and Travis Fultz in fifth.
