Coming into Sunday, Bubba Pollard had won numerous Late Model stock car races on both asphalt and dirt. He had scored victories, won championships and competed against – and defeated – some of the top stock car drivers in the country.

But the one thing he had not done was score a win in one of asphalt Late Model racing’s “Majors” – namely one of a handful of long races that see the best drivers in the country compete.

But on Sunday, the Senoia, Georgia speedster marked that off his punch list.

Pollard took the lead in the historic All American 400 at Tennessee’s Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville with just under 25 laps to go, and drove away to take the win.

Pollard added a coveted All American 400 Guitar to his trophy case as a result, along with pocketing the $16,000 winner’s share of the purse.

More importantly, Pollard finally has an answer when someone asks “When are you going to win one of the Majors?”

After starting from the third starting spot, Pollard ran a conservative race much of the first half of the race. Meanwhile, fellow Georgia driver Casey Roderick led much of the early portions of the event.

Roderick, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, would pace the race through the first competition caution on lap 68. When racing resumed, Roderick found himself coming under fire from Florida driver Jeff Choquette. Roderick would defend the position for several laps, holding the top spot until the second competition caution flew on lap 140.

Under the caution, several drivers came to pit road for adjustments, including Roderick, Pollard, Choquette, pole sitter Preston Peltier and Alabama veteran Augie Grill.

Back under green, Choquette moved to the top spot, with Dalton Sargeant and Stephen Nasse giving chase. Meanwhile, Roderick began working to make up ground lost in the pits.

Choquette would come under fire from Sargeant again and again as the race moved past the 200 lap mark. Each time, Choquette was able to hold his ground. The lead duo battled several laps, making contact on a few occasions. Finally, on lap 236, Sargeant made the move to take the lead.

Pollard, meanwhile, had settled into a solid position in the middle of the top ten, and was content to ride, saving his car for later.

Sargeant continued to hold the lead until lap 307, when race officials called for another competition caution.
While most of the leaders hit pit road for adjustments, Steven Wallace and Tyler Ankrum stayed out.

Back under green, Wallace would hold the lead for just three laps, as Nasse powered to the top spot on lap 322. Behind him, as the laps began to wind down, Pollard was on the move. He would take over the third position on lap 338, and on lap 364, Pollard would move into second behind Nasse.

Pollard would look for a chance to pass time and again, and on lap 376, he took the lead for the first – and last – time on the day.

After a caution and a red flag for a multi-car crash, on the backstretch, Pollard drove away from the pack to score the victory.

Derek Thorn finished in second, with Raphael Lessard in third, Nasse in fourth and Peltier in fifth.

Ankrum, Blaine Rocha, Sargeant, Quin Houff and Johnny VanDoorn rounded out the top ten.

Earlier in the day, Dillon Oliver scored the victory in a 100-lap Pro Late Model feature, with Derek Scott, Jr. in second, Dawsonville, Georgia’s Spencer Davis in third, Cole Williams in fourth and Kyle Donahue in fifth.

Kyle Ivey, Michael Bolden, Mason Mingus, Justin Ashburn and Davey Coble rounded out the top ten.
