Coughlin Gets ARCA/CRA Super Series Win At Winchester

Cody Coughlin established himself firmly as one of the favorites to win next month’s 45th annual Winchester 400, as he powered to the victory in the Winchester 100 at Indiana’s Winchester Speedway on Monday afternoon.

Coughlin, the ARCA/CRA Super Series points leader, was fastest in qualifying, but drew a six on the invert, putting Dalton Sargeant on the pole. Sargeant took the early lead, while Coughlin settled into fourth place. While Sargeant continued to pace the field through several cautions over the first 50 laps, Coughlin worked his way up to second position.

Coughlin saw his opportunity to move to the point come on the restart following a lap 65 caution. Coughlin powered under Sargeant in turn two to take the lead after some slight contact between the two. From there, Coughlin would drive to his fourth win of the season, more than any other competitor.

“I really wasn’t thinking about points today, I just wanted to win,” said Coughlin. “I love racing at this track, to win here is always special. I think will have a good car for the 400 next month, that’s a win I really want to get.”

Sargeant finished in second, with Travis Braden in third, Dalton Armstrong in fourth and Scott Hantz in fifth.

Tyler Ankrum, Wes Griffith, Jr., Hunter Jack, Eddie Van Meter and Fred Hopkins rounded out the top ten.
