Fans and racers got the chance to double up on Saturday, as Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia played host to double Summit ET Drag Racing events.
After a hour long rain delay, the first round of racing action got underway. When the finals came around, Brian Smith scored the Super Pro victory.
Smith, in his Undercover Dragster defeated Ray Lacount in his Chevy Dragster with a 5.087 ET on his 5.08 dial in (dead on run) at 134.44 mph and a 0.025 reaction in the final. Lacount ran a 4.847 ET on his 4.84 dial in (also dead on) at 143.09 mph and a reaction of 0.59
In the Pro final, Chad Brewer in his ‘73 Nova defeated Will Spearman in his ‘74 Duster. Brewer ran a 6.821 ET (dead on) off his 6.82 dial in at 100.14 mph and a 0.036 reaction. Spearman ran a 6.725 ET of his dial in of 6.70 at 101.95 mph and a 0.039 reaction time.
Russell Haskins from Marietta, GA in his ’13 Mustang defeated Tim Keeton from Canton, GA in his ’68 Camaro for the Sportsman victory. Haskins ran a 12.445 ET on his 12.42 dial in at 113.84 mph and a 0.121 reaction in the final. Keeton ran a 13.012 ET off his 13.08 dial in (break out) at 103.46 mph and a reaction time of 0.006.
In the Super Pro Bike final, Tim Sutton on his ’89 Suzuki defeated Randy Day on his Kawasaki. Sutton ran a 5.731 ET on his 5.59 dial in at 107.66 mph and a 0.007 reaction. Day ran a 5.762 ET off his 5.70 dial in at 123.56 mph and a reaction time of 0.110.
Brian Wilson on a Suzuki defeated Jimmy Heisler on a ’00 Kawasaki for the Street ET Bike win. Wilson ran an 11.256 ET on his 10.80 dial in at 127.93 mph and a 0.110 reaction. Heisler broke out running a 10.732 ET off his dial in of 10.80 at 113.21 mph and a 0.079 reaction time.
In the second round of racing action, Hank Wilhelm took the Super Pro victory, in his ’96 Ed Quay Dragster defeated Don Brown, Jr. in is ’03 Spitzer Dragster in the closest race of the day and a double break out run.
Wilhelm ran a 5.019 ET on a 5.02 dial in at 132.70 mph and a reaction of 0.015. Brown ran a 4.787 ET off his dial in of 4.79 at 143.25 and a 0.003 reaction.
In the Pro final, Matt Ward in his ’69 Camaro defeated Will Spearman in his ’74 Duster. Ward ran a 6.437 ET on a 6.43 dial in at 106.38 mph and a 0.016 reaction time. Spearman ran a 6.703 ET on his dial in of 6.69 at 101.99 mph and a 0.026 reaction
Dickey Forrester defeated Ed Nalley for the Sportsman victory. Forrester, in his ’68 Camaro, ran a 11.946 ET on his 11.88 dial in at 100.66 mph and a 0.002 reaction time. Nalley ran an 11.633 ET on his dial in of 11.55 at 114.76 mph and a reaction of 0.071.
David Fletcher beat out Randy Day for the Super Pro Bike win. Fletcher, on his ’84 Kawasaki, defeated Day on his Kawasaki with a 5.836 ET on his 5.82 dial in at 114.30 mph and a 0.059 reaction. Day ran a 5.745 ET off his 5.78 dial in (break out) at 120.55 mph and a 0.029 reaction time.
In the Street ET Bike final, Jimmy Heisler defeated a red lighting Randy Day. Heisler ran a 10.693 on a 10.71 dial in (break out) at 124.45 and a 0.088 reaction time. Day ran a 9.386 ET on his 9.35 dial in at 144.69 mph but had a red light start of -0.027 reaction.
