Dale McDowell led all 53 laps en route to a home state win in Sunday night’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series dirt Super Late Model feature at Georgia’s Rome Speedway.
The Chickamauga, Georgia speedster captured his second ever series victory, making him the only repeat winner in the series in 2016, having scored a win in the series opener two weeks ago at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia.
The win at the Northwest Georgia half-mile also meant a $5,300 payday.
McDowell led an all Georgia sweep of the top three spots, as Woodstock, Georgia’s Frank Ingram finished in second, with Toccoa, Georgia’s Casey Roberts in third. Vic Hill broke up the Peach State rout with a fourth place finish, while Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh finished in fifth.
Ricky Weiss-Headingly, Luther Jenkins, Jason Croft, Tyler Millwood and Shanon Buckingham rounded out the top ten.

Rome Speedway’s local divisions were also in action on Sunday night, as Jason Smith recorded the Steel Head Late Model feature. Scott Hall finished in second, with Dave Duplissey in third, Mario Gresham in fourth and Matt Dooley in fifth.
Todd Morrow was the winner in the Crate Late Model feature, with Andy Picklesimer in second, Cruz Skinner in third, Jason Deal in fourth and Dylan Knowles in fifth.
Jerry Fowler took top honors in the Super Bomber feature, followed by Alan Brewer in second, Donny Thurman in third, Matt Thompson in fourth and Chris Ledbetter in fifth.
Dalton Polston scored the victory in the Economy Bombers feature. Eric Hamby finished second, with Von Casey third, Taylor Cole fourth and Andrew Moody fifth.
Brian Dempsey took the win in the Street Stingers feature, with Cody Sisson, Byron Sisson, Melissa Dempsey and Shawn Harper rounding out the top five.
Rome Speedway returns to action on Sunday, September 4 as the raceway celebrates its 50th anniversary with the Rome Boss Super Late Model race, with $3,000 on the line to win, along with the Chevy Performance 535 Late Model Series and a full race program.
