The Southern Super Series is back for its fourth year of action. The 2016 season for the Super Late Model touring series will consist of a 12-race schedule at six tracks in four different states.
The series will begin on March 20 at South Alabama Speedway in Opp, AL and will end at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL, on October 1.
“With 2015 in the rear view and Texan Casey Smith joining Daniel Hemric and Bubba Pollard as Southern Super Series Champions, we’re excited to look ahead towards the 2016 season,” said Tim Bryant, Southern Super Series promoter.
The Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway will kick off the series slate on the weekend of March 20. The Rattler 250 weekend will be one of just three multi-day events for the series.
From there, the tour will head to its newest event, the North/South Super Late Model Challenge at the historic Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tennessee on the weekend of April 8 and 9. The race will be a combo event with the ARCA/CRA Super Series. It will feature a 125-lap points race for each series on Friday, April 8, and then a showdown between drivers of both series on Saturday, April 9.
At the end of April, the Southern Super Series will make its traditional trip to the Gulf Coast for its only doubleheader weekend at Five Flags Speedway and Mobile International Speedway in Irvington, AL. The series will race Friday, April 29 at Five Flags, and the very next day at Mobile.
The series will return to Five Flags Speedway on Friday, May 27 for a 100-lap event. Just one week later, on June 4, the tour will pay its second visit to Watermelon Capital Speedway at Crisp Motorsports Park in Cordele, GA.
The Southern Super Series will visit Alabama’s Montgomery Motor Speedway twice in 2016, with the first visit coming on June 18 for the “Rumble by the River.” The series will return to Montgomery for its penultimate race of the season, the Alabama 200, the weekend of September 11.
South Alabama Speedway will play host to the Southern Super Series a second time in 2016 when the series returns on July 9. The series will race just one more time in the month of July when it heads back to Five Flags Speedway on July 22.
The Lee Fields Memorial 150 will be a Super Late Model race for the second-straight year and will play a deciding factor in the championship battle as the Southern Super Series visits Mobile once again with just three races remaining on the calendar. The Lee Fields Memorial will be held on Saturday, August 20.
For the third consecutive year the Southern Super Series will conclude its season at Five Flags Speedway on Saturday, October 1.
