Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY scored the Southern Nationals Bonus Series victory Saturday night at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY, picking up a $3,000 payday for the win.
The start of the 30 lap feature would see a major pile-up in turn three and four, blocking the track, resulting in a red flag. Action would finally get underway, with Rattliff taking the race lead, as Michael Chilton, Victor Lee, Tommy Bailey, and Derek Fisher gave chase. Rattliff would build a comfortable lead, only lose it when a spin by Donnie Sullivan on lap seven brought out the caution flag.
On the restart, Rattliff jumped out to the lead with Chilton in second, while Fisher would work past Bailey for the fourth position. Meanwhile, Rattliff again put some distance on the rest of the field and started working slower traffic on lap 12. Chilton would close in a bit, but Rattliff had no trouble working traffic masterfully.
Disaster would almost strike Rattliff with two laps to go, when Rod Carter, Jr. spun in front of the leader. Ratliff spun avoid the wreck, but by series rules, he would go back on the point.
Ratliff would would survive the two lap dash to the finish to claim the win. Chilton would take second, with Fisher third, Bailey fourth and Lee fifth.
Jeff Rawlings, David Payne, Donnie Everman, Jerry Rutherford, and Travis Armes rounded out the top ten.
