Taylor Jarvis of Milton, FL drove Myers Yacht Sales Special to his third win of the season on Saturday night in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL as part of Week 23 competition in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series.
The 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS had his winning streak come to an end at six straight wins, but did extend his single season win record to 18 victories in Week 23 competition. Arnold drove The Strength Center Special to a Saturday night win at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS.
Seven of the top 10 drivers in the point standings were able to net points in Week 23 competition. The battle for the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings tightened up when Cruz Skinner of Oxford, TN failed to net any points. The 14-year-old second-place driver traveled to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, where he finished 13th in the Skinner’s Body Shop CVR.
Skinner remained in the second spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 689 points. Skinner still leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger.
Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 685 points. Starnes was able to close in on Skinner after netting seven points with a second-place finish on Saturday night at Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX driving the Lonestar Hydro Maintenance Special.
Mike Palasini, Jr. of Leland, MS drove the MP Trucking Special to his seventh win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. Palasini is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 684 points. With the win, Palasini was able to net a total of nine points.
Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is fifth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 680 points. Daspit took his sixth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing Special. Daspit stopped Arnold’s winning streak at six straight victories, as the 2015 Champ finished second.
Greg Fore of Greenville, MS used a second-place finish on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in the Washington Body Shop GRT to net seven points and move up to the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings. Fore has a best 14 week total of 675 points.
Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS dropped to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 672 points. Lee finished fourth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway to net one point driving the Billy Riels Racing Special.
Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL drove the Three Trade Consultants Special to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race to net three points. Joiner leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings, and he is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 668 points.
Cole Daffron of Pell City, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 654 points in the TSR Race Cars Warrior. The 17-year-old driver, who is second in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings, did not compete in Week 23 action.
Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is tenth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 649 points. Jordan was able to net five points after driving the SMJ Race Parts Trak-Star to a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway.
In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 23 action, Kevin Sitton of Baytown, TX kept his winning streak alive at six after driving the Mirage Construction Special to his seven win of the season on Saturday night at Battleground Race Park. Fellow Texan 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Chris Holley of Dayton, TX holds the record at seven straight wins.
Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS topped a 30-car field on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS by driving the McDevitt Enterprises GRT to his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season.
The win by Thrash increased the leading win total to 17 for four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR. Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL is second spot in the chassis points with 12 wins.
Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third with nine wins and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN is fourth with seven wins. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
