Josh Berry would start out the night as fast qualifier for the Bojangles Late Models, and would end his night in victory lane with a win at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC.
While Berry led the field to green, Landon Huffman took the early lead. Berry would stay close to on Huffman and retake the lead after a few laps. The race would go caution free, with Berry driving off to the win. Huffman would hang on for second, with Matt Piercy in third, Annabeth Barnes in fourth and Mike Darne in fifth.
In other action, the Classic Sportsman Racing Association lead off the night’s action. Don Fenn took the early lead, only to fade late in the race. Larry Benz took the lead and went on to take the win. Bill Webb finished in second, with Fenn in third, Dennis Hinkle in fourth and Curtis Pardue in fifth.
Mitch Walker grabbed the pole position and lead the field to the green flag in the T-Mobile Limited Late Model feature. Travis Byrd used the high side of the track early in the race to take the point from Walker. Byrd would hold on for the win and lengthen his points lead. Anthony Alfredo, Bradley Weaver, Jeremy Pelfrey and Walker rounded out the top five.
The Street Stocks would hit the track next.
Cody DeMarmels brough the Street Stocks field to the green flag. DeMarmels would face challenges from Danny Gibson and Brendan Doyle but would ultimately hold them off for the win. Doyle finished in second, Marshall Sutton in third, Gibson in fourth and Mark Whitten in fifth.
Hickory Motor Speedway returns to action on Aug. 15 with the Frye Regional Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the Races presented by T-Mobile, featuring racing from the Bojangles Late Models, T-Mobile Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, Smokey’s Super Trucks, 4-Cylinders, and Wrench Rags Renegades.
