Matt Long charged to the lead of Saturday night’s FASTRAK Dirt Late Model feature at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV, and went on to score the victory.
Derek Rogers and Kyle Thomas paced the field for the 35 lap main event. Thomas spun in turn two and the event’s first caution waved as a result. When the racing action resumed fourth place starter Matt Long immediately took control of the top spot with Rogers, Ryan Montgomery, Max Blair and Daniel Hill following behind.
Two more cautions slowed the early part of the feature event. The first flew for a spin by Tim Dohm on lap five and another on lap six when Troy Frazier and Tyler Stutler got together in turn one. Long never gave up the top spot and held off challenges from Max Blair, Derek Rogers and Jared Miley. A caution flew for Rogers on lap nine and he retired to the pits.
By the 10th circuit Miley had worked his way to the third position and Ryan Montgomery was in the fourth spot.
At the halfway point, Long continued to lead, followed by Blair, Miley, Jared Hawkins and Daniel Hill. The caution lights were once again displayed when Montgomery, Joel Prosser, Trey Watson and Troy Frazier were all involved in a turn one accident on the 13th lap. Racing action resumed but it was short lived as Kris Southern, Chicklo and Frazier got together to cause the event’s final caution on the 15th lap.
Thick fog rolled in during the lap 15 caution forcing FASTRAK officials to shorten the feature event to 20 laps. The final five circuits saw Long continue to hold off the challenges of Blair, Ryan Payne, Kyle Thomas and Miley to score the win.
