Bubba Pollard is proving that he’s not just a Deep South phenomenon.
The Senoia, GA speedster made the trip to Monroe, WA for Saturday night’s 2015 Summer Showdown at Evergreen Speedway, and came home with a $35,000 payday.
Pollard set fast time on the weekend, and led the most laps. The race was plagued by a big crash on lap two that knocked out several contenders. Mid-race attrition also hampered several of the hopefuls.
With 16 laps to go, Pollard passed leader Taylor Riddle to take the top spot for the final time. Pollard survived a wild restart with five laps to go and pulled away for the victory.
Pollard said in victory lane that conservation was a key to the victory.
Garrett Evans finished in second, with Derek Thorn third, Kelly Mann fourth and Parker Stephens in fifth.
Pollard, winner of the Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway in Bakersfield, CA earlier this year, picked up a $10,000 bonus in addition to the $25,000 winner’s prize.
