Dexter Canipe, Jr. took the lead early on in Saturday night’s Bojangles Late Model feature at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC, and went on to score his third win in the last four races as the historic raceway.
Canipe set fast time in qualifying and would start the feature from the pole with Shane Lee on the outside. Matt Piercy and Landon Huffman would make up row two. On the drop of the green flag, Canipe and Lee would battle side-by-side for several laps until Canipe finally took the top spot.
Behind leaders, Piercy and Huffman battled for position. Huffman would make the pass and keep third early on, but Piercy would would pressure and eventually grab the spot back.
Meanwhile, up front, Canipe went on to hold off Lee for the victory. Piercy would settle for the third, with Huffman in fourth and Matt McCall in fifth.
In other action, Dan Moore held off Wayne Edwards for the win in the first of two Street Stock features. Cody DeMarmels finished in third, with Kevin Eby in fourth and Marshall Sutton in fifth.
Moore would sweep the night with a win in the second Street Stock feature. Edwards finished in second, with Mark Whittenin third, Eby in fourth and Larry Mosher in fifth.
Randy Canipe took the win in the 4 Cylinder feature, with Eddie Gilbert in second, Michael Tucker in third, Dennis Trivette in fourth and Rob Lewis in fifth.
Travis Byrd and Monty Cox battled for several laps early in the running of the T-Mobile Limited Late Models, with Byrd going on to score the victory. Cox finished in second, with Mark Johnson third, Jeremy Pelfrey fourth and Anthony Alfredo fifth.
