Thomas Bell ended up being the man to beat in Super Pro action Saturday in the Summit ET Series at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA.

Bell, of Toccoa, GA, took the top spot with his ’11 Undercover dragster against Ronnie Wilkerson’s ’80 Malibu wagon. Bell was on his game with a 0.024 second reaction time, coupled with a dead-on 4.574 at 149.23 mph. Wilkerson was equally impressive, making it to the final with his Buford, GA based machine. His 0.027 react, coupled with a 0.01 second over 6.93 at 99.29 mph was good for the runner up spot. Paul Dooley, who won the May 23 Summit ET event, was the lone semi-finalist.

Chad Brewer of Canton, GA, and his Pro division final round opponent, Mel Abney from Cumming, GA, were wired together at the starting line (0.027 second react vs 0.029 react), and only eight thousandths of a second separated their race cars at the top end stripe. Brewer’s ’73 Nova got the nod, with a dead-on 6.908 at 98.71 mph. Abney actually crossed the stripe first in his ’65 Chevy II, but broke out with a so-close 7.088 at 93.83 mph (7.09 dial). Travis Bryant (’68 Camaro – Bowman, GA) finished in the semi-finalist spot.

Sportsman winner Harold Wilson from Winder, GA parked his regular race cars and switched to his ’08 Tundra for Saturday’s race. The move paid off with a final round win against Allen Long’s Ballground, GA based ’96 Silverado. Wilson’s better reaction time, coupled with a 14.60 at 93.29 mph (14.54 dial) allowed him to take the finish line stripe 0.02 seconds in front of Long. Long’s numbers were 17.40 at 76.65 mph (17.36 dial). Mike Newby finished in the semi-final spot.

Super Pro Bike winner Jimmy “ChaCha” Heisler from Woodstock, GA beat out Lawrenceville, GA racer David Fletcher’s ’84 Kawasaki (0.005 second react and a dead-on 10.714 second pass at 120.98 mph). Fletcher was a bit off, posting 9.09 at 144.60 mph (8.88 dial). Tim Sutton (’89 Suzuki – Clermont, GA) and Jordan Autrey (’11 Kawasaki – Traveler’s Rest, SC) earned the semi-finalist portion of the purse.

Street ET Bike winner Andrew Patterson from Taylors, SC took the win in the final round against Paul Lee (’09 Kawasaki – Mt Airy, GA). Patterson’s ’07 Suzuki was just in front of Lee’s machine at the big end stripe, posting a 9.03 at 133.29 mph (8.93 dial). Lee was 0.014 seconds back, with a 9.35 at 145.23mph (9.24 dial). Angie Young (’12 Kawasaki – Anderson, SC) earned her way to the semi-final round.

Junior Street has featured three different winners in three events. This time, 15-year-old Adrian Wilson took the victory in his family’s Tallapoosa, GA based ’04 Silverado against 14-year-old Maddie Kate Halsey’s ’90 S10 Pickup from Clermont, GA. Wilson’s time was 11.37 at 60.71 mph (11.28 dial) followed by Halsey’s off pace 11.66 at 58.91 mph (11.30 dial). 15 year old Katie Wilhelm (’10 Camaro – Commerce, GA) ended her day in the semi-final round.

13-17 Jr Dragster winner Chris Kittle (age 15) from Oxford, GA scored the victory against 16-year-old Austin Carden of McDonough, GA. The pair was so close together at the finish line stripe (only 0.002 seconds separated them) that they had to look down track to see which win light came on. Kittle’s 8.20 at 78.77 mph (8.19 dial) got the nod, and Carden’s 7.95 at 80.16 mph (7.93 dial) was good for the runner-up trophy. Austin Bowden (13 – Homer, GA) bowed out of competition in the semi-final round.

Twelve year old Ryan Blanton from Jefferson, GA earned his first ever win in the 10-12 Jr Dragster class. Blanton faced Cannon Stiles (10 – Winder, GA) in the final round. Both racers dialed their cars at 9.04 seconds, and Blanton’s better reaction time coupled with a 9.13 at 69.50 mph allowed him to take the stripe 0.03 seconds in front of Stiles, who posted a 9.06 at 71.14 mph. Adam Brown ended his day with a semi-final finish.

Stephen Skelton (7 – Cleveland, GA) took the win in the 6-9 Jr Dragster division against Alayna Carden (7 – McDonough, GA). Skelton broke out with a 14.13 at 45.69 mph (14.20 dial), but the win was his to keep as soon as Carden left the red foul light glowing at the starting line.
