Josh Berry would hold off a strong pack of competitors Saturday night to score the victory in the Bojangles Late Models 100-lap feature at Hickory Motor Speedway in Newton, NC.

Qualifying would see Jake Crum grab the top spot, with Berry taking the outside pole. Matt Piercy would grab the third starting spot with Landon Huffman starting outside row 2.

Crum would take the early lead with Berry close in tow while Huffman would get around Piercy and begin to work the top two. The race would run caution free through lap 40 before a spin would bunch the pack once again. On the initial restart Crum would seem to take the advantage, until another spin would bunch the field once more for another double file restart.

Berry, knowing that another opportunity may not come, would pressure Crum and grab the lead after the restart. Crum would fall in line and try to reel back in the leader while William Byron worked his way up to pressure Huffman for third. The two would have a great side by side battle for several laps with Byron finally getting by and looking for the leaders.

Meanwhile, Berry would hold the lead for the remainder of the race and take the victory. Crum finished in second, with Byron in third, Huffman fourth and Piercy in fifth.

In other action, Randy Canipe would set the pace early in the 4-Cylinder feature and ultimately held off Eddie Gilbert for the win. Michael Tucker finished in third, with Matt Elledge in fourth and Dennis Trivette in fifth.

Pat Rachels led the field to the green flag in the T-Mobile Limited Late Model feature. Mitch Walker would challenge Rachels early but would ultimately give way to Travis Byrd, who would work his way to second place. Rachels would score his first win at Hickory Motor Speedway while Byrd would bring home the second position. Evan Duggins, Walker and Monty Cox rounded out the top five.

In the Wrench Rags Renegades feature, Kenneth Roberts brought the field to the green flag. After a challenge by Darren Dickinson and Blake Walker, Walker would take the lead. Contact between Walker and Roberts would send them both to the back of the field when the caution flew and Walker spun. A late restart would see a new leader with Ray Triplett going to the point. Triplett would hold off a late charge by Roberts to bring home his first Hickory Motor Speedway win. Roberts would hang on for second while Dickinson finished third, Walker fourth and Justin Austin in fifth.

The Street Stocks would finish the night, with their Cody DeMarmels setting the pace for the pack as the field took the green flag. Marshall Sutton and Kevin Eby would make a hard charge towards the lead, but would fall short as DeMarmels grabbed his first Hickory Motor Speedway victory. Eby finished in second, with Wayne Edwards in third, Larry Mosher in fourth and Mark Whitten in fifth.

Racing action returns on Saturday, May 30, with action from the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Bojangles Late Models, T-Mobile Limited Late Models, Smokey’s Super Trucks, Street Stocks and the Sportsman Racing Classics.
