Kratzer Cruises To NeSmith Chevy WRS Salina Victory

Chris Kratzer of Haysville, KS was the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series winner on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS driving the Wichita Tire and Alignment Special.

With one-third of the 27-week 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season behind him, Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS continues to look back at the competition as the point leader after Week 9 competition. Arnold drove The Strength Center Special to his sixth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.

Arnold has 384 points after six wins, seven top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in ten races over eight weeks of competition. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is second with 332 points and trails Arnold by 52 points. Lee took Week 9 off for a vacation, but he has one win and nine top five finishes in nine races over seven weeks of competition in the Billy Riels Racing Special.

Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 326 points after one win and six top five finishes in seven events. Joiner finished fifth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway driving the Three Trade Consultants Special, and he also leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS finished third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway and is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings. Keeton has 282 points after one win, five top five finishes, and seven top ten finishes in eight races over six weeks of competition in the Byram Trucking GRT.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 277 points after two wins, three top five finishes, and five top ten finishes in six races driving the Billy Riels Racing Special. Like his teammate Lee, Daspit decided to take off the Memorial Day Weekend.

Al Kouhout of Hattiesburg, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 259 points after five top ten finishes. Kouhout drove the Tophen’s Rock and Roll Grill Special to a sixth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL had a big weekend, as the 13-year-old point leader of the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series took a 40-point win on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL. Skinner then drove his Skinner’s Body Shop CVR to his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

The Talladega Short Track 50-point win moved Skinner up to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 242 points after four wins, five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in six races over five weeks of competition.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS took Week 9 off of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition and fell to eighth in the standings with 241 points. Williams has one win, four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in seven races over five weeks. Hunter Lewis of Moss Point, MS also did not race in Week 9 action, and dropped to ninth in the standings with 240 points after one top five finish and four top ten finishes in six races driving the T. Lewis Construction Rocket.

Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 236 points after 1 win, five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in six races over five weeks of competition. Starnes drove the Lonestar Hydro and Maintenance Special to a second-place finish in a race co-sanctioned by the Southern Crate Late Model Series on Saturday night at Underwood Speedway in Chatham, LA.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 9 action, Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS drove the MP Trucking Special to his third straight series win on Saturday night in the SCLMS co-sanctioned race at Underwood Speedway.

Ben Garner of Greenfield, TN took his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN driving the Garner Brothers Farms Special. Howard Willis of Dayton, TX drove the 41 Shocks Special to his second straight win on Saturday night at Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Weekly Racing Series Week 9 race scheduled for Sunday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS was rained out. After the first nine weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, a total of 215 different drivers have earned points.

Week 10 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition got underway on Monday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL where Cody Smith of Holt, FL picked up the $1,000 top prize in the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series race driving the Smith’s Performance Rocket.

The two wins by Skinner and one win by Smith created a tie for the point lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge. The pair of wins by Skinner gave CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN four wins, and Smith’s win gave Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV four wins. Four-time Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is third with three wins.

The defending and three-time champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge with two wins, and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
