Josh Peacock powered his way to his first Crate Late Model Winternational victory at his home track of East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL Thursday night.
Meanwhile, James Hill picked up the win in the TUSA Mod Lite Winternationals opener, and Josh May was victorious in the rescheduled TUSA Shoot Out Invitational.
In Crate Late Model action, defending track champion Dave Schmauss set quick time in qualifying with a 16.31 against 29 other cars, while Travis Varnadore, Kenny Monahan, Jack Nosbisch, Jr. and Max Blair won their heat races.
Varnadore and Blair brought the field to green for the 25 lap feature, with Blair leading lap one. But Varnadore would take over on lap two and held the top spot for the next 12 laps.
As Varnadore drove into turn two he slid high, allowing Peacock to drive under him for the lead.
Peacock would drive away to score the win.
“Everybody seemed pretty even tonight” Peacock said in victory lane. “I’ve won some pretty big races and this is another one to check off my list. Next for me is the local Scott Thompson Memorial and then I‘ll retire.”
Nosbisch, Jr., Schmauss, Mavrick Varnadore and Brad Cummings rounded out the top five.

In TUSA Mod Lites action, James Hill of Laurel, DE took advantage of a good starting to win the series feature. Hill took the lead from Jimmy May just before halfway then maintained a comfortable lead for the remainder of the 25 lap distance.
Jimmy May jumped out to the early lead with Hill tucking into second. The red flag was out on lap four as Chris Logan of Ravenna, Ohio flipped going into the first turn. Logan’s car was able to drive back to the pits under its own power.
On the restart Hill began to pressure May on the bottom side with Joe Isabell of Pennellville, NY running a close third. Going into turn one on lap 10 Hill was able to get and good run and took the lead. At the halfway mark, Isabell took the second spot and defending Winter National Champion, Jimmy Wills began to pressure May for third.
Matt Hay was on the move as he got by Wills then May to take third. Will regained the spot for a lap before May shot back by. With five to go the yellow was out as first Nick Nash got around then Blake Wilson stopped on the restart.
Hill was flawless in the final five laps taking the win. Isabell finished in the second spot with Hay third. Wills was able to hold off Mike Stratton to finish in fourth.
“He (Jimmy May) had my line for a while,” said Hill. “Then we got around him and smoked them.”

The TUSA Invitational Shoot Out was added as a night cap to Thursday night’s program after the threat of rain postponed the event originally scheduled for Wednesday evening. The race was shortened from 25 to 20 laps due to its late night start.
Canada’s Josh Sliter jumped out to the early lead Jimmy Wills while ran in the second spot with Jeff Teeters in third. The yellow was out on lap six when British driver Ryan Harrison lost a wheel and hit the wall in turn one. On the restart, Teeters took second with Josh May following into third. The yellow flew again as Travis Stensland rolled to a stop. On the restart May grabbed the lead but the yellow was quickly out again as Jason Darocha and Shane Pfeuffer tangled in turn one.
May continued to set the pace while Teeters held second. Isabell continued his charge climbing to third when the final caution flew on lap 17 as Mark Marcucci came to a halt.
On the restart, May held off Teeters to record his second consecutive Shoot Out win. Isabell finished a third, with Stratton in fourth and Wills in fifth.
