Donald McIntosh started out Thursday night’s Hangover 40 dirt Super Late Model action at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN by putting his Blount Motorsports machine on the pole with the fast dash victory.

The Dawsonville, GA speedster would back that up by scoring the $4,000 victory, racing hot competition and freezing temperatures for the New Year’s Day opener win.

Cory Hedgecock started alongside McIntosh, having shattered the track record in qualifying. After a quick caution on the opening lap, the green waved and McIntosh set sail with Hedgecock in his tire tracks. Behind them, Walker Arthur moved into the third spot in pursuit of the leaders. A caution on lap 5 erased the advantage McIntosh had built up.

Back under green, Pierce McCarter powered past Ryan King to take the fourth position. The strong run ended for Hedgecock as a flat tire sent him pit-side, shattering his hopes of the win. After slipping back on the start, Stephen Breeding regained the ground he lost and moved back into the third spot.

Meanwhile, up front it was all McIntosh as he had pulled out to a full straight away lead by lap 23. When the checkered flag flew, McIntosh had drove away to a half track lead, and was unchallenged for the win. Arthur finished in second, with Breeding in third, Pierce McCarter in fourth and Jeremy Hines in fifth.

In other action, the night opened with the 20 lap Street Stock feature. Chris Rickett put his machine on the pole via a win in his heat race. Alongside was Shannon Emery. Chaos struck early as a multi-car crash occurred on the very first lap. Jeff Ferguson, Jerry Hux and Willie Busler were among those involved. Despite suffering heavy damage Hux would return to the track.

Back under green, Rickett and Emery battled for the lead with Rickett taking over the top spot. Meanwhile, Brad Davis put pressure on Jeff McLemore for the third spot. The troubles would continue for Hux, who went for a spin on lap 3 bringing out another caution.

The strong run Emery had going came to an end with what looked like a blown engine. With his nearest competitor falling by the wayside, Rickett pulled away to score the win. Michael Boyd finished in second, with David Price in third, McLemore in fourth and Davis in fifth.

Up next was the Sportsman feature. Big wrecks on the start of the race seemed to be the popular thing, as just like the Street race it happened again. This time it would be Kenny Ford who got the worst of it, as his machine suffered heavy damage and his night was over before it got started.

Back under green, Justin Beeler jumped out front and showed the way with Clyde Overholt and David Kerr in tow. A quick caution on lap two put the field right on the back of Beeler. Eric Register made his move early on, getting past Overholt and into the second spot. The action was slowed as Gary Blanken lost an engine and made contact with the outside retaining wall on lap three.

Register attacked as soon as the race went back green moving past Beeler into the lead. Overholt took a look inside Beeler for the runner up spot as they chased Register. After having to race his way in via a B main, Rex Coffey was on a charge. After several laps he was already working on a top five position. Down the backstretch Coffey made a three wide move to take the fourth position.

Register had begun to pull away until a caution waved on lap 11. On the restart, Coffey again made his presence felt and moved into the second spot. With a handful of laps left Coffey moved past Register into the lead, however a lap wasn’t completed before the caution waved. Register regained the lead and held off Coffey to pick up the victory. Overholt, Tom Collini and Zack Dunsmore rounded out the top five.

The final race of the night would be the Mini Stock feature. After winning their heats, John Byers and Kyle Courtney would lead the field to the green. After two cautions, the race finally got going, as Byers powered past Courtney into the lead. However, he wasn’t about to drive away, as Courtney gave chase.

The top three quickly began to drive away from the rest of the pack. On lap 10, Courtney moved past Byers to take the lead. With lap traffic coming into play, Byers kept Courtney in his sights. Going into turn one the two bounced off each another in a fight for the top spot. A debris caution on lap 17 allowed the drivers and fans to catch their breath.

With just three laps left, Courtney held off a furious charge from Byers to pick up the win. Jason Gregory finished in third, with Rocky McNabb in fourth and Randy Powell in fifth.

411 Motor Speedway returns to action on Feb. 14 for the Sweetheart Race, featuring $1,500 to win for both the Steel Head Late Model and Outlaw Crates, along with action from the Mini Stocks and Street Stocks.
