CORDELE, GA – Lee Langford came out on top of a tight race with Luke Christian to score the Outlaw Late Model feature in the season finale for the Georgia For Fair Tax Outlaw Late Model Series at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA Saturday night.
Langford, of Commerce, GA, would start his night on the pole after turning in a fast time of 16.25 seconds in qualifying.
From the drop of the green, Langford and Christian did battle for the top spot, continually swapping the position back and forth.
Meanwhile, points leader Stuart Dutton his hopes for his first series championship go away when he sustained heavy body damage to his car during the running of the feature. Dutton’s front fenders, hood and nose began trying to lift off the car, leading officials to black flag him, sending him to pit road for repairs. He was eventually forced to retire to to an oil leak, ending his shot at the title.
Meanwhile, Langford moved into firm command of the race, and drove away to score his first win in his first career race at Watermelon Capital Speedway. Christian held on for second.
Chris Dilbeck crossed the finish line in second, giving him the points he needed to score the division championship.
Chris Tullis finished in fourth, with Pendergrass, GA’s David Murphy in fifth.
Steve Barker, Mark Bicker, Alex Leverette, Blake Gaither and Sam Short rounded out the top ten.
Other winners on the night included James Pennington in Mini-Stocks, Billy Nipper in Super Street and Cody Hale in Enduros.
