JACKSONVILLE, NC – Caleb Holman picked up his fourth win of the 2014 X-1R Pro Cup season Sunday afternoon at Coastal Plains Raceway, after rain forced the running of the Coastal Carolina 200 back a day at the Jacksonville, NC race track. The Abingdon, VA driver won the pole in MAHLE Pole Award in qualifying and then led flag-to-flag en route to the victory.
“This Coastal Plains track is one of the weirdest places I’ve ever driven that’s for sure, but we still had a good race car all day long. Usually the weirder the place the more I like it,” said Holman in Victory Lane. “It was frustrating to have to stay another day, but the Pro Cup officials made the right call and it worked out pretty good for us as you can see. We’re trying to win this championship and so far we are two for two. I’d say if we can keep this up we’ll be ok. Next up we go to Coeburn (Lonesome Pine Raceway) which is my home track and usually your home track is the place you have your worst luck at; or at least I do it seems.”
While Holman was celebrating another team was just as happy with their trip to Coastal Plains. AFR Rookie of the Year leader Codie Rohrbaugh made it a career day finishing just behind Holman in the runner up position. Rohrbaugh, who has shown tremendous growth this season, challenged Holman on several occasions but never quite had what it took to get around Holman’s #75 Food Country USA Chevrolet. Despite that he and his Grant County Mulch racing team were satisfied with their results.
“I was doing all I could to keep up with Caleb, he just had a little better car than I did. Maybe his veteran experience was a factor too. Overall we actually had one of the better cars we’ve had all year,” noted Rohrbaugh after the race. “Hopefully this gives us a little momentum to close out the year and seal up this rookie title. That was our goal this year and we seem to be getting better as the season winds down.”

Veteran Jeff Oakley rounded out the podium with his third place finish. The veteran driver, led by former NASCAR regular Stacy Compton, matched his season best finish from earlier this year at Memphis.
