CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL drove the LSK Enterprises Special to a $1,000 victory on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL. Cliff Ross of Florence, MS was another first-time winner this season driving the Pearl Tire and Auto Trak-Star to victory on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS.

Week 21 of the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season saw the point standings in the Top 20 continue to tighten up, as drivers continue to battle for the Top 10 points fund paying positions with six weeks left in the season. Chris Holley of Dayton, TX continues to lead the point standings in the Land Bridge Transportation Special.

Holley did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action, as his home track Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX was rained out. Holley has 698 points represented by 12 50-point wins and two 49-point second-place finishes in 14 races. In the coming weeks, Holley will try to score two more 50-point wins to register a 700 point “Perfect Season” of 14 wins.

There are nine more opportunities left in the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season to score points, which include three double feature nights, and there are now eight drivers still with a mathematical chance to challenge Holley for the championship. To stay in the running, however, those drivers are going to have to do some traveling and post a win in each week left in the season.

Holley has a 16 point lead over his closest competitor in the point standings, title contender Ryan King of Seymour, TN, but the points chase is getting crowded behind him. Just 17 points separate second through tenth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, and 29 points separate tenth through 20th on the points list.

King drove the Brian King Roofing Stinger to a second-place finish on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN to net six points and jump from fourth to second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings. King has a best 14 week total of 682 points after six wins, 14 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 16 races.

Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 680 points after four wins, 17 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 20 races. Bridgmon finished fourth on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Robinson Electric Supply Special, but did not net any points.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS finished second on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT. Lee was able to net three points and is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 679 points after four wins, 21 top five finishes and 25 top ten finishes in 28 races.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL finished seventh on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL in the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT and failed to net any points, as his best 14 week total remained at 678 points after four wins, 14 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 20 races. That dropped Gauldin to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is sixth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 676 points after netting three points with a fourth-place effort Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star. Daspit is still in title contention with six wins, 15 top five finishes and 18 top ten finishes in 19 races.

Rusty Ballenger of Sevierville, TN picked up his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway driving the Rehel Diesel/E. TN Metals Special. After netting nine points, Ballenger remains seventh in the standings with a best 14 week total of 675 points after four wins, 13 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 16 races.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is still in the running for the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship, as he jumped from 14th to eighth in the point standings after taking his seventh win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. Arnold has a best 14 week total of 670 points after seven wins, 13 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 21 races driving The Strength Center Special.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL drove the Skinner’s Body Shop Special to his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. The 12-year-old sensation still has a mathematical chance to challenge for the championship from the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 669 points after five wins, 11 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 22 races.

Delbert Smith of Wichita, KS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 665 points after four wins, 12 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 14 races driving BSB Manufacturing Special. Smith did not compete in Week 21 action, as his home track, Salina Speedway in Salina, KS, was rained out.

Heath Minor of Ralph, AL is just outside the Top 10 in the 11th spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 662 points. Minor is a championship challenger with six wins, 11 top five finishes, and 13 top ten finishes in 16 races driving the Mike Minor’s Auto Repair Warrior. Minor finished outside the top ten on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL and did not net any points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 21 action, Mike Palasini, Jr. of Leland, MS moved back into the Top 20 of the point standings with his eighth win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the MP Trucking Special. The victory kept the third-generation driver a title contender.

Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN is another title contender after posting his ninth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN driving the Greg’s Sawmill Special. Of his nine victories this season, six of them are 50-point wins.

Ronnie Roberts of Biloxi, MS drove the Bert Sullivan Warrior to his first win of the season on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway.

Richie Beasley of Terry, MS won the co-sanctioned race with the South Eastern Crate Series on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the Byram Home Center Special. Lee Burdett of Bessemer, AL took his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in the FG Lumber GRT.

Three-time and defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL continues to lead the 2014 standings after Ross gave them their 29th win of the season.

Four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Champ GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR got two Week 21 wins from Stokes and Burdett to increase their second-place total in the standings with 22 wins this season.
